H.E. Ruwanthi Delpitiya

Ambassador Ruwanthi Delpitiya arrived in Kathmandu as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal on 12 October 2025. A career Foreign Service officer, Ambassador Ruwanthi Delpitiya joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 2003. Prior to assuming duties as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal she held the positions of Director General of the East Asia & Oceania Division and the International Security Cooperation Division at the Foreign Ministry in Colombo (2024-2025). She was previously the Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka, Bangladesh (2021-2024)

She held the position of Director General of the Public Diplomacy Division and Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry in Colombo (2019 to 2021). Ambassador Delpitiya has previously served in Malaysia (2005-2008); Japan (2009-2014); and Italy (2016-2019). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Communication from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka (1999), Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Kelaniya (2003) and Master of International Relations from the University of Colombo (2016) in Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Ruwanthi Delpitiya studied at Ladies’ College, Colombo.
